CLASS ATTIRE
We pride ourselves in looking neat in our very own branded uniform.
When a student looks like a dancer, they will feel like a dancer.
Therefore, our uniform is compulsory.
*New students to the school may wear their own comfortable clothing for their very first lesson
to ensure they wish to commit prior to purchasing uniform.
CLASSICAL BALLET CLASSES:
KGD KIDZ - 2 YEAR OLD

Students sitting ballet exams will need to wear canvass Ballet shoes as opposed to leather.
Students sitting an exam from Grade 3 level upwards will need pink ballet ribbons sewn onto shoes instead of elastics.
Older students will need to wear appropriate undergarments beneath leotards – eg; body stockings, flesh bras with clear straps etc. No bras to be visible. All ballet stores will stock a range of these items.
No jewelry to be worn, as this can be hazardous to the student and others, with the exception of small studs or sleeper earrings.
Hair to be tied back in a neat ballet bun or classic hairstyle, with all fringe off face.

JAZZ & TAP CLASSES:
Students participating in back-to-back classes may wear their ballet attire for all classes. For all classes other than Ballet, the ballet skirt may be removed and other items may be added for a more Jazz/Contemporary look.
If a student does not partake in ballet, they will need to wear an ensemble from the items below:
> Energetiks Essential Footed Dance Tights in Tan (students participating in Acrobatics before or afterwards may wear Convertible tights.)
> Energetiks "Teagan" Racer Back Singlet in Punk Pink (C/AC54) or KGD branded crop
> Energetiks Cross Band Contrast Shorts in Punk Pink (C/AT08) or KGD branded shorts
> 3⁄4 or full length black leggings or KGD branded leggings
> Other approved official KGD merchandise
> For Jazz, Energetiks "Revelation" Jazz Boot with Mesh Split Sole (no laces) in Tan (JSC10 or JSC08)
> For Tap, Energetiks "Debut" Tap Shoe (TSC06). Juniors to wear smaller heel, only senior levels may wear a higher heel.
No denim or baggy clothing, such as baggy t-shirts or pants to be worn for Jazz or Tap, as this interferes with teachers being able to assess correct postural lines and technique.
Hair to be tied back in a neat bun or pony tail, with no loose fringes
Please Note: Pre-school students partaking in both Baby Ballerinas & Baby Bopperz/ Bounce, will need both ballet & Jazz shoes.

CONTEMPORARY CLASSES:
The above may be worn as per Classical, Jazz and Tap, however either foot thongs or bare feet will need to be worn.
(Foot thongs will be compulsory for end of year showcase). Kneepads will be supplied by KGD where applicable.
ACROBATICS CLASSES:
The above may be worn as per Jazz and Tap, however either Jazz shoes or bare feet.
Students may need convertible tights for the showcase performance, however specifics of this will be confirmed closer to the date.
MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES:
The above may be worn as per Jazz, including tan jazz shoes. (Tan coloured jazz shoes will be compulsory for end of year showcase).
HIP HOP & BOY'S ONLY CLASSES:
Quite the opposite to the above, Hip-Hoppers need to look the part! Think baggy hiphop pants, cargos, tracksuits, t-shirts, sneakers and street shoes,
loose hair, caps, bandanas, etc. Please, no school uniforms to be worn.
KGD MERCHANDISE:
All the above dancewear may be purchased at our reception and any local dancewear store. Recommended dance shops locally are: Energetiks at Fountain Gate, Total Dance Wear in Cranbourne West, Opening Night Supplies in Pakenham or Bloch Dancewear at Chadstone. They each have our uniform requirements on file, which makes it easy for parents, all you have to do is tell them you dance at KGD, which classes you are taking and they will take care of the rest!
